“If I was Given One Day to Change the World What Would You Do?”
|
One day is not enough to change what was build by centuries. However, if I had a chance to change the world in one day I would have directed all my abilities to solve environmental problems.
Why environment? Because environment is monobus for the whole world, for all nations and countries. Nowadays environment is harmed more than cared by mankind, everyone tries to exhaust more from nature but does give anything in return. The natural resources are frequently used absent-mindedly, while achieving benefit people don’t think that they are destoying the natural balance in the world.
The consequences of environmental problems caused by mankind are horrible. Global warming, climate change, disasters, drying of seas and lakes are the results of peoples’ irrational usage of natural resources. The above mentioned conditions are the reasons of poverty, degradation of nations and mankind in general.
If I was given a day to change the world I would have:
- Linked a subject called “Taking care about nature” into the educational system of all countries
- Installed filters in all objects where chemicals take place
- Build recycling complexes in the developing countries
Let me explain why I made these solutions.
One of the reasons why people use natural resources irrationally is discourtesy. Children must learn for the early childhood that it is very important to take care of nature, to use them rationally, not to pollute and harm the environment and to save the nature for the future generations. That’s why children must learn to take care of the place the live in beginning from the primary school.
There are millions of chemical complexes and factories functionating around the world, some of them are big and prosperous and able to afford filtering arrangements in order to protect environment from poisonous gases, but some factories cannot afford it or just don’t care about it. In result tons of chemical poisons are poured out into seas and rivers or spread in air. Installation of filters in all chemical oblects will greatly change the situation with poisonous blowouts to a positive direction.
Building recycling complexes in the developing countries is extremely necessary. As an example I will take our own country – Uzbekistan. In present Uzbekistan produces a lot of drinks which are packed up into plactic bottles.Empty bottles are thrown away because there is no station or point where people can deliver their empty bottles for recycling. You can see these bottles all around, they occupy a lot of space and it is impossible to burry them in the ground because they are uncomposable. The best solution of the problem is to recycle them and use repeatedly, such kind of recycling factories will shorten the expences of the factory essentially.
Undoubtedly one person cannot change the whole world in one day as well as solve all the existing problems, but if every person will carry in his deposit into improvement of the world we might change the world in a great extend. Every one should remember a good saying “Think globally, act locally”.

My experience in USA
|
Since I am involved into collaborative projects my professional and competency skills had highly increased. Integration of OCL into the classroom has changed the relations between students and the learning environment in general; it motivated students to improve their English language skills. Due to my active participation in various projects, I got a chance to take part in teachers contest of School Connectivity for Uzbekistan " program called US Exchange". After I passed a three stage testing (application, presentation of the lessons based on OCL and interview), I became a finalist of this contest and got a chance to improve my teaching skills and exchange with OCL integration experience with American teachers. Ten other teachers from Uzbekistan including me departed to USA for a three-week professional development. The participants attended a five-day workshop conducted by the International Educational and Resource Network (iEARN) in cooperation with Columbia University. The workshop focused on integrating technology and online projects into lesson plans and school curricula. The visiting teachers from Uzbekistan worked side by side with the American teachers to plan online collaborative projects and share lessons and teaching. During my trip I also visited Miami Country Day School, Florida, USA where I shared my experience about integrating IEARN projects into the classroom, I also visited lessons of my American colleagues that were based on IEARN projects. This trip has given me a very deep understanding about power of online collaborative learning and about the benefits of collaborating with parents of students. In USA I had a chance to meet other teachers face-to-face, I had a chance to talk to teachers about their methods of teaching, about their experience conducting OCL in the classroom. I was delighted to see such a good connection and close relations between students, teachers and parents. This was a very good experience for me.

Holiday in Uzbekistan
Related to country: Uzbekistan
|
Hello everybody!!!
I would like to congratulate you with the greatest holiday in Uzbekistan called Navruz - which means a New Day.
This holiday is celebrated on the 21 of March but people begin to celebrate it much earlier, this holiday is celebrated during all March.
This holiday symbolizes coming of spring and time to plant trees and other plants.
Ususally a lot of national dishes are cooked and the most important one is sumalak, which is cooked all night long and it looks like hot chocolate.
Legend of Sumalak ( http://www.orexca.com/legends_sumalak.shtml ) : This is a legend about Uzbek traditional food called Sumalak, which is often prepared for the national holiday Navruz-the Beginning of Year for Muslims .A long time ago there was a woman who had two sons. There names were Hasan and Husan. Because she was a widow, and very poor, they had very little to eat, and her sons always cried from hunger. One day their mother became very weary of their crying, and sorrowful that she had nothing to give them to eat. That evening, after they had gone to bed, she asked her neighbor for some wheat, then she took a pot from the cuphoard in which she placed 7 stones, poured water over the stones and stirred in the flour. Her sons heard the sounds, and thought their mother was cooking something delicious to eat. Reassured that they would soon have a good meal, they became quiet, closed their eyes and fell asleep. A little later their mother also slept. When she woke up in the early hours of the morning, she saw 30 angels standing around the pot. She rubbed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she saw them licking their fingers. In her delight, she woke up her sons. In their excitement they ran to the pot and found it filled with a most succulent porridge. From that time forth the boys were never hungry. The name of the meal was called Sumalak which, the Uzbek people say, means 30 angels.
